Ian Sands is a Chartered Management Accountant and also a Chartered Public Accountant. He began his career at Ford Motor Company before joining Coopers & Lybrand as a senior management consultant. He joined NatWest Stockbrokers as a Finance Director before being promoted to NatWest Investment Services as Head of Finance.
He has served as CFO of Lazard Capital Markets, during which time the Company brought several major companies to the LSE including France Telecom, Air France and Royal Caribbean Cruises. Additionally, Lazard assisted other organisations with mergers and acquisitions, including Granada, General Motors and Whitbread.
He was invited to join ABN Amro as COO of the Global trust business and also occupied the position of General Manager of the Wiltshire Friendly Society in order to lead the sale of this society to a competitor. Ian left ABN Amro to start his own accountancy and consultancy business, before working for the National Health Service in various capacities. Ian also served on the Lord Chancellor’s Investment Advisory Committee between March 1999 and March 2002.
